Estate & Legacy Giving

For more than 30 years True Companions has served the Denver community as a No Kill animal shelter and veterinary clinic, providing lifesaving care to injured, abused, and abandoned dogs and cats with no known owners. Once healed, we work tirelessly to place them in loving homes.

A gift through your estate plan ensures that this lifesaving work continues for generations. Legacy gifts provide stability, compassion, and second chances for animals who have no one else.

Why consider an estate gift?

An estate gift allows you to:

  • Continue your love for animals beyond your lifetime.
  • Make a meaningful impact without affecting your current finances.
  • Support long-term medical care, shelter, and adoption services.
  • Help ensure a future where every pet has the chance to become a cherished companion.

Your legacy helps us remain a safety net for the most vulnerable animals in our community.

Ways to include True Companions in your plans:

Gifts in a Will or Trust (Bequests):

A bequest is one of the simplest and most flexible ways to make a legacy gift. You may leave:

  • A specific dollar amount
  • A percentage of your estate
  • A particular asset
  • A residual gift after other distributions

To include True Companions in your will or trust, you may wish to share this language with your attorney:

“I give to True Companions, a nonprofit organization located in Denver, Colorado, Federal Tax ID #84-1116882, the sum of $______ (or ____% of my estate, or the residue of my estate) to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

We encourage you to consult your attorney or advisor when preparing estate documents.

Beneficiary Designation Gifts:

You can name True Companions as a beneficiary of accounts that pass outside of your will. These gifts are easy to arrange and can be updated at any time.

You may designate True Companions as a beneficiary of:

  • Retirement accounts
  • Investment or brokerage accounts
  • Life insurance policies
  • Bank accounts

To do so, request a beneficiary form from your account provider and list:

True Companions

958 Inca Street Denver, CO 80204

EIN: 84-1116882

These gifts can be especially tax-efficient, particularly when using retirement assets. They are also surprising easy and can take just a few minutes to complete. Please let us know if you need help finding the appropriate form for your account, we are happy to help!
