Donate from Your IRA 

A gift from your retirement account is a simple and tax-efficient way to support the lifesaving work of True Companions. 

If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to True Companions. These gifts can help animals in need today while also potentially reducing your taxable income. 

For many donors, this is one of the easiest ways to give. 
 

Why Consider an IRA Gift? 

A Qualified Charitable Distribution may allow you to: 

• Support animals in need at True Companions 

• Reduce your taxable income 

• Satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you are age 73 or older 

• Make a meaningful gift without affecting your current finances 

For 2026, individuals may give up to $111,000 per year directly from an IRA through a QCD. Married couples filing jointly may each make a gift up to this amount. 

Because a QCD is excluded from taxable income, it can be especially beneficial for donors who take the standard deduction. 
 

Is a QCD Right for You? 

A Qualified Charitable Distribution may be a good option if you: 

• Are age 70½ or older 

• Do not need all of your IRA distributions for personal expenses 

• Want to reduce taxable income 

• Are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) 

QCDs can be made from: 

• Traditional IRAs 

• Inherited IRAs 

• Certain SEP or SIMPLE IRAs

How to Make an IRA Gift 

Step 1 — Contact your IRA administrator 

Examples include Fidelity, Schwab, Empower, or Vanguard. 

Step 2 — Provide the following information

Your IRA administrator will send the gift directly to True Companions.
